According to the 1900 U.S. Census, Helen Beers was born in February 1884 to William Howard Beers and Martha Jane (Peck) Beers. On June 6, 1900, the family lived on Main Street near the families of Merritt Heminway and Frederick Bronson, and Helen’s father, William, is listed as a Supervisor at a Silk Mill.
By 1910, the family had moved to Hillcrest Avenue, and Helen is living at home, and her younger brother, Harold, is a student at Watertown High School
After his graduation, Harold attended Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and then joined the Military in 1918. He served on an Army transport ship and died on February 2, 1919 of the Influenza Pandemic.
Just 8 days later, Helen also died from the disease on February 10, 1919. She was buried near her younger brother in Evergreen Cemetery on February 12.
