Volunteers have created a self-guided walking tour of the historic sites near the new Watertown History Museum. In additional to an adult version, two scavenger hunts were created for Grades K-2 and Grades 3-5.
Route
Starting at 401 Main Street, the walk goes north to DeForest Street, over to The Green, down Academy Hill, and then returns to Main Street. This block southwest of the intersection of Routes 6 and 63 contains several notable buildings and monuments in Watertown

Scavenger Hunts
Two scavenger hunts have been created for Grades 3 – 5, and Grades K – 2. Copies are available at the same locations mentioned above, or can be printed here:
Note: the Walking Route is the same, but some of the buildings/locations on this Scavenger Hunt are not on the regular Walking Tour.
Special Prize for Completed Scavenger Hunts
Did your child/student have fun completing our scavenger hunts? For all that hard work they have earned a very special prize! Bring the completed scavenger hunt to the museum, and trade it in for your prize. If you cannot make it out to the museum, just mail the scavenger hunt to the museum (401 Main St., Watertown CT, 06795) or email a picture of it with your address to curator@watertownhistorymuseum.org and we’ll send the child/student a personalized letter containing their prize.
Then & Now
To accompany the walk, an online gallery of images provides glimpses from the past. A link to this gallery is printed on the brochure as a QR code or available here: 2021 Walking Tour Then & Now
