Wesley H.B. Atwood was born in Watertown on June 19, 1885, the son of Joseph Wheeler Atwood and Carrie Maria (Baldwin) Atwood.
Wesley’s siblings include:

- Isabel French (1890-1914)
- Christine Angeline (1896-1898)
Wesley married Ruth Bronson in Watertown January 11, 1917. According to the Connecticut Military Census of 1917, Wesley was 5′ 10 1/2″ tall and weighed 160 pounds. He could ride a horse, handle a team, and handle a boat. He could not drive an automobile or motorcycle, had no experience with electrical machinery or steam engines, and was not a good swimmer.
In September of 1918, he registered for the draft as a Builder and Farmer, living at the same location as his parents, R.F.D.#1 in Watertown, and listing his father as his nearest relative. Although Wesley registered for World War I, he never served in the military.
On November 29, 1918, Wesley died of the Influenza Epidemic (Spanish Flu), and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery. He and wife, Ruth, had no children. The cemetery records indicate that Wesley was a Carpenter at the time of his death.
